Simple Saturdays

Ahh, how nice it feels to have a laid back Saturday.  Today we took it pretty slow. We had an early lunch and spent our afternoon at Chamblin Bookmine.  This place is absolutely amazing.  The best used book store we have ever visited. Not that this was our first time or anything, but none the less its time to share it with others.  With over a million books on the shelves and 55,000 sq. ft. to roam around in, lets just say you can get lost for days on end in this store!  We each picked up a few titles for ourselves and headed home about 3 hrs. later.

The rest of our evening was spent relaxing at M.E.’s grandmothers house.  We had the opportunity to stay with her for a few hrs that evening cooking dinner and visiting.  Dinner was New Orleans style BBQ Shrimp cooked in a cast iron skillet.  Talk about flavor, this is by far one of my all time favorite dishes.  I don’t follow a specific recipe for this, but then again its pretty difficult to screw up as well.

                                                           N.O. Style BBQ Shrimp

2 lbs Head on Large Shrimp
3 Sticks REAL Butter
2 Lemons
1 Chopped Garlic Clove
Worcestershire Sauce  to taste
Crystal or Louisiana Hot Sauce to taste
Fresh Rosemary

1.  Oven set at 400
2.  Place shrimp in cast iron skillet or 13×9 Glass Baking Dish
3.  Melt butter, worcesthire sauce, hot sauce, garlic, and 1 squeezed lemon
4.  Poor Melted butter mixture over shrimp
5.  Place in over for 25-35 min.

Serve with Fresh French Bread to dip into sauce.  I also enjoy serving this dish over grits (plain or cheese).  Enjoy!

After dinner M.E. and her Grandmother spent the evening writing letters to friends, M.E. read her the paper and some other current events, and we watched Shawshank Redemption.

Simple, easy, and fun.  Just the way we like our Saturdays!
