New York City, NY

Today was our last full day in New York so we wanted to make the most of it. We helped Frank with some projects around the boat this morning and then headed into the city. First stop, Chinatown! We walked down Canal Street and as we walked M.E. had fun pointing out to me the ways of the infamous ways of the fake designer bag trade. It was raining so we stopped in at a Chinese restaurant in Chinatown to grab a bite to eat. By the time we finished eating, the rain had stopped and we decided to walk around in Little Italy and the SoHo area.

After walking around a bit, M.E. decided that I should see Grand Central Station. We caught the Metro to the Grand Central terminal and walked towards the Main Concourse. I didn’t think that there was going to be much to see but I was actually impressed when we got there. The architecture was impressive, there are tons of trains going to all sorts of places and it’s a great place to watch people coming and going.

We headed out of the Main Concourse in Grand Central to check out the Grand Central Market. M.E. had been telling me that it was amazing and when we got there, I saw why. There were cases full of meats, cheeses, fresh fruit, seafood and prepared dishes. The selection was incredible and everything looked delicious.

We left Grand Central Market and walked toward 5th Avenue. We ended up in the square in front of The Plaza Hotel.  We walked into Central Park and headed toward the Central Park Zoo. We spent some time watching the sea lions at the zoo and then hung out on a bench and watched some kids sailing remote control sailboats in the pond.

By the time we got back to the boat that night we were ready to eat. I picked up sushi from a restaurant and brought it back to the boat. The sushi was delicious but crashing out and going to sleep was even better. A fun day in the city but it’s time to move on.
